​NIEM Biometric Domain Shines at NIEM in November

On Wednesday, November 6t​h, NIEM Executive Director Donna Roy led an information-packed NIEM in November program. The agenda highlighted efforts by NIEM PMO support staff, NIEM domains and NIEM participants leading up to the release of NIEM 3.0. Commenting on the contributions of the Biometric Domain, Ms. Roy added a "special call-out to the NIEM Biometric Domain" for the "huge amount of work from the team".

Ms. Roy's sentiments were echoed by many of the speakers and the NIEM 3.0 Lead Developer, Mark Kindl, detailed the schema contributions of the Biometric domain and highlighted the cross-domain utility of this material. Mr. Kindl also noted the exceptional harmonization work accomplished by the Biometric Domain, as did DoJ Advisor Chris Travers, who discussed new NIEM training material development and highlighted "fantastic support from the domains – especially Biometrics".

​ During the program, the Biometric Domain managed a NBD information table in the lobby of the conference hall that evidenced significant interest from the attending members of the community of interest. Kamran Atri, Constellation Software Engineering CTO and lead facilitator for the Biometric Domain expressed his delight with the success of the NIEM in November event and the NBD outreach efforts. "This type of community engagement is exceptionally important. The NIEM Biometric Domain table allowed us to maintain a constant presence during the NIEM in November program and enabled great communication between our team and our community of interest regarding many of our ongoing and new activities, including the launch of our new Data Quality Tiger Team".​

The Biometric Domain's mission is to support biometric-related services and mission-based activities, such as homeland security, national defense, border management, immigration benefits and global law enforcement through the joint development and alignment of XML Biometric Standards.
