AFEI Holds Second Webinar on DOD Adoption of NIEM

On August 14, 2014, the Association for Enterprise Integration (AFEI) held the second webinar in a two-part series on DOD’s adoption of NIEM, titled “Alignment with Federal and DOD Information Sharing Architectures.” The webinar offered insights into how DOD adoption of NIEM supports the objectives of the federal Information Sharing Environment (ISE) and DOD information sharing strategies.

The webinar included:

  • Overviews of the federal Information Sharing Environment (ISE), NIEM, and the DOD Enterprise Architecture Roadmap.
  • A discussion regarding how NIEM is an interoperability enabler that can leverage Joint Information Environment (JIE) infrastructure.
  • Current DOD participation in and implementation of NIEM.
  • Future DOD participation in NIEM, including strategic engagement to include industry outreach, pilot programs, pursuit of early adoption opportunities, DOD capability exploration, and NIEM governance.
  • An engaging Q&A session.
