USCG Metadata Catalog NIEM Export

The USCG Metadata Catalog application consists of a web client interface that allows users to search through USCG web business geospatial and real property information.  In addition the catalog also contains a server side application that controls advanced functionality such as database harvest database management thesaurus management user roles and permissions.  The purpose of the USCG Metadata Catalog application is to provide users with the ability to conduct a keyword search to locate metadata about USCG data assets such as USCG database information internal and external web pages USCG geospatial data or USCG real property data. Metadata returned from a search of USCG data assets can be exported to an .xml document and transmitted from the Metadata Catalog server to another user or system through a NIEM messaging construct.  The .xml messaging constructs developed for this purpose were designed around the type of metadata being transferred. Currently the USCG Metadata Catalog has the ability to export metadata results using three different .xml schemas: Dublin Core FGDC and Real Property.
